A Delicious De Loach Chardonnay!

De Loach 2005 Kent Richie Vineyard Chardonnay

“Bred on cool foggy nights and trained by a civilized oak fire. A lot of her beauty is up front, but this girl is more than body, she’s got class that won’t fade with age. This fruit don’t need no botox!”
-Mamabear

This nose of this wine screams “oak BOMB!” but, wait… don’t judge it just yet. While I wanted to write this one off as a totally typical California Chardonnay just based on this nose and all my preconceptions about this varietal (which I typically don’t like) my opinion was totally changed once I sipped this pristine white. When it hit my mouth I got so much more than just oak! Very true to the varietal, presenting a good acidity and wonderfully balances. This wine would be great with food, perhaps a nice meal over the holidays… Reminds me of a European style Chardonnay! The mama’s loved this one, coming highly recommended from all of us! Just some of the glowing reviews heard around the room:

“Not too candy like”
“This makes me want to eat!”
“This could be an afternoon or an evening chardonnay, meant for sipping…”
“Not too much popcorn or butter.”

Overall Mama Score = 4.8

Mamas, anything else to add???

Lovely, lovely, and simply marvelous. This was oakey with some hint of lemon. A little butterscotch lingered on my tongue. I love my oak bombs but this is my ideal Chardonnay - substantial and fleshy with the perfect amount of crisp. For a $40 Sonoma Chard, this is indeed worth it. One of my favorite whites to date. 4.75 out of 5 here.
